In the early morning hours of November 19, 2020, a shooting incident at the Peak Tavern in Colorado Springs tragically cut short the life of 32-year-old Abraham Joseph Parsons. Officers from the Colorado Springs Police Department responded to a call at approximately 1:31 A.M. at the tavern, located at 2001 East Platte Avenue. Upon their arrival, they discovered a male victim with an apparent gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported Parsons to a local hospital, but he ultimately
succumbed to his injuries. The El Paso County Coroner's Office later conducted an autopsy on November 20, 2020, and officially identified the victim as Abraham Parsons. His death was investigated as the 35th homicide in the city of Colorado Springs for that year.
Detectives from the Homicide/Assault Unit of the Colorado Springs Police Department immediately began an investigation. Through multiple interviews and processing of evidence at the scene, they were able to identify a suspect. An arrest warrant was obtained for 26-year-old Joshua Martinez-Torres on the charge of Murder in the First Degree. Martinez-Torres was subsequently arrested and transported to the El Paso County Jail, where he remains in custody. The motive for the shooting has not been publicly released.
