An evening in Aurora, Colorado, turned tragic on June 20, 2022, when Jeremiah LaShae Quashawn Cannady, a 26-year-old male, was shot. The incident occurred around 8:30 p.m. near the intersection of East Alameda Avenue and South Jamaica Street. When police officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Cannady inside his gold VW Jetta, suffering from a gunshot wound.
Emergency services transported him to a local hospital where he fought for his life for three days.
Sadly, Jeremiah Cannady succumbed to his injuries on June 23, 2022. The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office later officially identified him. In the wake of the shooting, the Aurora Police Department's Major Crimes Homicide Unit launched an investigation, appealing to the public for any information or dash cam footage from the area at the time of the incident.
After months of investigation, the Aurora Police Department announced an arrest in January 2023. Darrion Rouse, a 28-year-old man from Aurora, was taken into custody by the Fugitive and SWAT teams. He was charged with one count of first-degree murder in connection with Jeremiah Cannady's death.
