In the early morning hours of November 17, 2024, the life of 20-year-old Hispanic male Isaiah Ray Chavez Seppelt was tragically cut short in a burst of gunfire at Utah Park in Aurora, Colorado. Remembered by his family as a funny, caring, and athletic young man with a deep love for his family and the sport of baseball, Isaiah's death left a void in the hearts of those who knew him.

The night of the incident began at a house party in south Aurora, where an altercation broke out. Following the fight, several individuals, including Isaiah, left the party and gathered at Utah Park, located at 1800 South Peoria Street. It was there, just before 2 a.m., that the dispute escalated to deadly violence. Gunshots rang out in the park's parking lot, and when the chaos subsided, Isaiah and his 18-year-old friend, Ahmad Malachi Richardson, an African American male, lay fatally wounded. An 18-year-old woman was also shot and seriously injured but managed to get to a local hospital, alerting the authorities to the tragic events at the park.
When Aurora police arrived at Utah Park around 2:15 a.m., they discovered the bodies of Isaiah and Ahmad. The Arapahoe County Coroner's Office would later classify both of their deaths as homicides. According to police, Isaiah and Ahmad had confronted two other men in the park when the shooting occurred. After the incident, the two male suspects reportedly fled the scene in a small, black, possibly 4-door car.
