In the early morning hours of September 27, 2015, the life of 30-year-old Corey DeAndre Clemons was tragically cut short in Aurora, Colorado. At approximately 2:35 a.m., police responded to reports of gunfire at the Canterra at Fitzsimons Apartments located on Potomac Way. Upon arrival, officers discovered Clemons in the parking lot, suffering from a gunshot wound.
He was rushed to a nearby hospital, where he ultimately succumbed to his injuries.
The investigation into the shooting unfolded over the following days. Initially, there was little information about a suspect. However, the Aurora Police Department soon identified Lloyd “Rickey” Henderson as a person of interest in the case. Authorities believed Henderson was involved in an altercation that led to Clemons' death. A warrant was issued for Henderson's arrest on suspicion of first-degree murder.
The search for Henderson concluded on the night of Saturday, October 3, 2015, when he was taken into custody by the Aurora Police Department's fugitive apprehension and surveillance team. Subsequent legal proceedings revealed that the fatal shooting occurred in front of Clemons' mother and stemmed from an intervention in a dispute. In September 2017, a jury found Lloyd Rickey Henderson guilty of second-degree murder. He was later sentenced to 32 years in prison for his role in the death of Corey Clemons.
