In the cool evening of October 22, 2021, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet of an Aurora, Colorado neighborhood, forever altering the lives of a local family. Sixteen-year-old Joel Adrian Renderos Villa, a male student at Aurora Central High School, was behind the wheel of his car near the intersection of East 12th Avenue and Ironton Street when the shots rang out shortly after 7 p.m. Bullets tore through the vehicle, striking Joel.
