In the early morning hours of May 4, 2017, the sound of gunshots shattered the pre-dawn stillness in the parking lot of the Rivera Motel on Colfax Avenue in Aurora, Colorado. When police arrived around 1 a.m., they discovered a man suffering from a gunshot wound to the chest. The victim, identified as 32-year-old Marquette D. Killingsworth, a male, was rushed to a nearby hospital, but his injuries proved fatal, and he was pronounced dead.
