In the quiet town of Edgewood, Maryland, a devastating event unfolded on November 18, 2020, forever altering the lives of one family. Denia Yamileth Corea, a 43-year-old woman, was tragically found deceased in her home on Nuttal Avenue. The grim discovery was made after deputies from the Harford County Sheriff's Office responded to a call about a person with a gunshot wound.
Upon entering the residence, law enforcement found an uninjured woman whom they safely escorted out of the house.
Their search of the home led them to an upstairs bedroom where they discovered the bodies of Denia Yamileth Corea and her 48-year-old husband, Jose Ermelindo Corea Mejia. Both had sustained apparent gunshot wounds.
The initial investigation conducted by the Harford County Sheriff's Office led detectives to believe that the incident was a murder-suicide. It is believed that Jose Ermelindo Corea Mejia shot his wife before taking his own life.
