In the late hours of August 5, 2003, the sense of quiet in an Aurora neighborhood was shattered by the sound of gunfire. When police arrived at a residence at 11205 East 14th Avenue, they discovered a grim scene. Inside, 41-year-old Eliseo Cano-Pacheco, a white male, and a woman named Consuelo Hernandez Serrano had both been shot. A lone gunman had reportedly approached their home and fired numerous rounds directly through the front door, striking both individuals within.
