On September 30, 1994, 26-year-old Shango Yamaya Wade was fatally shot in North Portland, Oregon. Originally from Los Angeles County, California, Wade had relocated to Portland to work in construction. He was accompanied by 30-year-old Deborah Jean Payton at the time of the incident.
