On the night of August 12, 2014, Hartford police responded to multiple 911 calls reporting gunshots near 362 Sigourney Street. Upon arrival, officers found 18-year-old Deon Palmer lying face down with gunshot wounds to his right thigh and chest. He was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he underwent surgery but succumbed to his injuries, being pronounced dead at 2:36 a.m. on August 13.
