On March 23, 1950, Louis L. Wolfson, a 41-year-old liquor store owner, was fatally shot during a robbery at Cooper's Package Store in West Hartford, Connecticut. The assailant entered the store around 9 p.m., shot Wolfson in the face, and fled the scene. Wolfson was discovered shortly after, lying in a pool of blood, and was transported to Hartford Hospital, where he succumbed to his injuries on March 26, 1950. The autopsy revealed that the bullet was fired from a .22 caliber revolver.
