On September 13, 2022, at approximately 1 a.m., Hartford police responded to a ShotSpotter activation indicating multiple gunshots in the 300 block of Hillside Avenue. While en route, they were alerted to a vehicle crash nearby. Upon arrival, officers discovered 28-year-old Jose Arriaga unresponsive inside a crashed vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. He was transported to a local hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
