On a summer evening in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of 19-year-old Cameron Mounds Jr., a Black male, was tragically cut short. On June 21, 2016, Mounds was fatally shot on Enfield Street, near the intersection with Greenfield Street. The violence of that evening was not limited to him; it was a double homicide that also claimed the life of 21-year-old Ashley Spence. A third individual, 39-year-old Harold Cook, was also wounded in the shooting but survived his injuries.
