On the evening of May 1, 2022, a sense of unease fell over the 400 block of Park Street in Hartford, Connecticut, as the sound of gunfire shattered the night's calm. Responding to reports of a shooting at approximately 8:03 p.m., police officers arrived to find a gravely wounded man. The victim was identified as 34-year-old Javier Hernandez-Jiminian. Emergency services rushed him to Hartford Hospital, where he was initially listed in critical but stable condition.
