In the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, March 12, 2023, tragedy struck in Hartford, Connecticut, claiming the life of Uriah Alexander, a 52-year-old Black / African American male. Police responded to reports of a shooting in the 1100 block of Albany Avenue at approximately 3 a.m. Upon arrival, they discovered Alexander suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
First-responding officers attempted to perform life-saving measures, but their efforts were in vain as he was unresponsive and succumbed to his injuries at the scene. His death has been classified as a homicide and is under investigation.
Originally from St. Catherine, Jamaica, where he was born on February 24, 1971, Alexander had made Bloomfield, Connecticut his home after migrating to the United States in the early 2000s. Known as "Ricky" to friends and family, he was a hardworking and enterprising individual. He worked as a Diesel Mechanic Supervisor for First Student INC. and was also an entrepreneur, owning several businesses, including Rick Antonio Trucking & Alex Carpentry. His passing has been deeply felt by his loved ones and the community.
The shooting that ended Uriah Alexander's life was the second homicide in that Hartford neighborhood within a four-day span, creating concern among residents. Despite the ongoing police investigation into his death, there have been no public announcements regarding any suspects or arrests in connection with the case. The violent loss of Alexander, described as a proud father who was trustworthy, kind, and dedicated, has left a void in the lives of his family, including his mother, children, and siblings.
