On a tragic Sunday morning in June of 2016, the life of Michael Fuller, a 32-year-old Black man, came to a devastating end. The events unfolded at a residence on Jackson Avenue in West Hartford, Connecticut, on June 26th. Police responded to the home around 7:30 a.m. to find a chaotic and violent scene. Fuller was discovered inside the house with what would prove to be a fatal gunshot wound to the head.
A woman, who was the mother of his four children, was found outside with three of the children, suffering from a gunshot wound to her arm. The fourth child was located inside the house with Fuller.
Both Fuller and the female victim were transported to local hospitals for treatment. The woman was treated for her injuries and subsequently released. Fuller, however, remained in critical condition and ultimately succumbed to his injury the following day, on Monday, June 27, 2016. Law enforcement officials quickly classified the incident as an act of domestic violence.
The investigation into the shooting determined that Fuller had shot the female victim before turning the gun on himself. Authorities concluded that his fatal gunshot wound was self-inflicted. As a result of this finding, the police announced that they did not anticipate filing any criminal charges in the case. The investigation was to continue, but the primary conclusion was that no external suspect was sought. The four children, who ranged in age from 3 to 13, were placed in the care of their mother and other family members. Michael Fuller was remembered by his family as a man who was passionate about spending time with his children.
