On the morning of February 6, 2022, what appeared to be a serious car crash on Bellevue Street in Hartford, Connecticut, quickly turned into a homicide investigation. First responders arrived at the scene around 8:45 a.m. to find a vehicle that had crashed and its driver, 20-year-old Black male Tyrik Walcott of Windsor, unconscious inside. As firefighters worked to extricate him from the car, they made a grim discovery: Walcott had sustained a gunshot wound.
