On a spring Sunday in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of 28-year-old Black / African American male Derrick Nichols was tragically cut short. Around noon on April 14, 2019, police responded to reports of gunfire at the corner of Wooster and Pavilion Streets. Arriving officers found Nichols on the ground, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
