On a summer night in Hartford, Connecticut, the life of Thomas Smith, a 49-year-old Black / African American man, was tragically cut short. On July 8, 2018, officers responded to a call in the city's North End at approximately 11:45 p.m. There, they discovered Smith on the sidewalk, suffering from two gunshot wounds. He was quickly transported to Saint Francis Hospital & Medical Center, but he was pronounced dead in the early hours of the following morning.
