On the late evening of February 4, 2024, Jose Jesus Cortez, a 39-year-old Hispanic male from Hartford, Connecticut, was fatally shot. The incident occurred at approximately 11:20 p.m. in the area of the 70 block of Cabot Street. Hartford Police officers were dispatched to the scene after receiving a ShotSpotter alert. Upon their arrival, they discovered Cortez unresponsive inside a vehicle, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds.
