Jose Jesus Cortez, a 39-year-old resident of Hartford, Connecticut, was fatally shot on the evening of February 4, 2024. The incident occurred on Cabot Street in Hartford, where Cortez was found inside a car with multiple gunshot wounds.

Cortez was transported to St. Francis Hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead. His death marked the second homicide of the year in Hartford.
