On January 25, 2014, 27-year-old Ramesh Dwayne Sweeney of Hartford, Connecticut, died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound following an encounter with police. Early that morning, at approximately 4:47 a.m., Hartford police responded to Lenox Street after the ShotSpotter system detected gunfire in the area. Officers observed a vehicle leaving the scene at high speed and initiated a traffic stop when the driver turned onto Winchester Street.
