The tragic incident unfolded at approximately 1:30 p.m. on Nelton Way, a street far from Jordan's own home on Baltic Street. He was the victim of a drive-by shooting, an act that police later described as a targeted attack.
First responders, alerted by the city's ShotSpotter system and 911 calls, found Jordan unresponsive at the scene. He was rushed to Saint Francis Hospital but sadly succumbed to his injuries and was pronounced dead.
Jordan, who was born on November 28, 2007, in Providence, Rhode Island, was remembered by his family as a vibrant and happy young man with a beautiful smile that could light up any room. Hours after the fatal shooting, a sport-utility vehicle believed to be connected to the crime was discovered burning, adding another layer to the ongoing investigation. The Hartford Police Department's Major Crimes and Crime Scene Divisions have been actively investigating the homicide, which marked the city's 32nd of the year. Despite their efforts and public appeals for information, no arrests have been announced, and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with Jordan Luna's death.
