On a Monday afternoon in March of 2016, the parking lot of a Hartford Walmart became the scene of a fatal encounter. Larry Williams, a 34-year-old man from New Britain, was shot multiple times in his lower torso during what police described as a drug transaction that turned violent. An off-duty Hartford police officer, who was at the shopping center, was alerted by Walmart employees to the sound of gunfire.
