On November 7, 2022, at approximately 5:20 p.m., Hartford police responded to a report of a shooting at 135 Nelson Street. Upon arrival, officers discovered 46-year-old Chester "CJ" Gaston Jr., unresponsive on the second-floor rear porch, suffering from multiple gunshot wounds. Immediate life-saving measures were administered, and Gaston was transported to Saint Francis Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
