On the evening of April 4, 2022, a burst of gunfire shattered the night at the intersection of Mather and Bedford Streets in Hartford, Connecticut. When the chaos subsided, Jermaine Davis, a 33-year-old Black / African American man, lay fatally wounded. Two other men were also found with non-life-threatening gunshot wounds, and a fourth victim later arrived at a local hospital.
Investigators believe the attack was a targeted act of violence. It is thought that multiple assailants exited a vehicle and opened fire on a group of people who had gathered at the intersection. After the shooting, the suspects fled the scene. A vehicle of interest, an older model, light-colored Infiniti, was later discovered burned out in the nearby town of South Windsor. Despite this discovery, the specific motive behind the deadly assault remains unclear to law enforcement.
