On the evening of November 9, 2022, Lamonte Brown, a 46-year-old Black / African American male, was walking in his hometown of Hartford, Connecticut, when his life was cut short in a fatal encounter. At approximately 8:30 p.m., near the intersection of Main Street and Capen Street, Brown was approached by a man and a woman. An argument broke out between them, escalating quickly and violently.
The male suspect pulled out a firearm and shot Brown multiple times.
The entire tragic incident was captured on a city surveillance camera, providing police with a video record of the events. Following the shooting, both the male and female suspects fled the scene on foot. When police arrived, they found Brown unresponsive on the sidewalk, suffering from apparent gunshot wounds.
