On April 18, 2020, at approximately 1:30 a.m., Hartford police responded to reports of gunfire and a person down behind 416 Franklin Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 36-year-old Efrain "Pity" Nieves with a gunshot wound to the torso. Despite immediate medical attention and transport to Hartford Hospital, Nieves was pronounced dead upon arrival.
