In the early morning hours of Friday, February 5, 2021, the life of 28-year-old Cleveland Byfield, a Black male from Hartford, Connecticut, was tragically cut short. Just before 6 a.m., authorities received a report of a person down in the roadway on Retreat Avenue. When patrol officers arrived at the scene, they discovered Byfield suffering from a gunshot wound. He was quickly transported to Hartford Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.
