In the early evening of June 22, 2019, on Winship Street in Hartford, Connecticut, a burst of gunfire shattered the quiet, leaving 24-year-old Eros Diaz, a Black male, fatally wounded. Diaz was sitting in a car with another man when the shooting occurred. He was pronounced dead at the scene, while the other man, who was in his early 30s, was rushed to Hartford Hospital with life-threatening injuries but ultimately survived.
