On the evening of September 24, 2016, a burst of gunfire shattered the night in a Hartford, Connecticut neighborhood. Responding to alerts from the city's ShotSpotter system, police arrived on Magnolia Street to find 26-year-old Nicholas Brown lying on the sidewalk. He had been shot multiple times. Emergency services rushed him to Saint Francis Hospital, but his injuries were too severe, and he was pronounced dead.
