In the early morning hours of Saturday, August 1, 2015, the quiet of a Little Rock, Arkansas neighborhood was shattered by a violent incident that claimed the life of 54-year-old Donna Galvin. Police were dispatched to a residence on Glendale Drive just before 4 a.m. following a 911 call regarding a shooting. Upon their arrival, they discovered a tragic scene in the home's bathroom.
Inside, officers found Donna Galvin on the floor, suffering from gunshot wounds to her upper body.
Also in the bathroom was David Galvin, 58, who was deceased from what appeared to be a self-inflicted gunshot wound to the head. Emergency services transported Donna to a local hospital, but she succumbed to her injuries and was pronounced dead.
The investigation that followed revealed the incident to be a murder-suicide. David Galvin was identified as the suspect in Donna Galvin's death. As he took his own life at the scene, no arrests were made in connection with the case.
Present in the home at the time of the shooting were Donna's mother, Elizabeth Mitchell, and her 17-year-old son. It was Donna who instructed her son to call 911 for help. The young man fled the residence and made the emergency call from a neighbor's house. Donna's mother, who was in poor health, reportedly slept through the entire tragic event and was later released to the care of another daughter. The Little Rock Police Department investigated the case as a murder-suicide.
