On a Thursday in late March, Little Rock police were called to a residence in the 1900 block of Rice Street following a report of a 'subject down'. Inside the home, officers discovered the unresponsive body of 39-year-old Brian Deshaun McDowell, a male resident of Little Rock. It was apparent to the officers at the scene that McDowell had succumbed to a gunshot wound.
Homicide detectives and crime scene search units were dispatched to the location to process the scene for evidence.
Following their preliminary investigation, McDowell's body was transported to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for an autopsy to officially determine the cause and manner of his death. In the course of their investigation, police were able to identify a suspect in connection with the shooting, though the individual's name was not publicly released.
Several months later, on Thursday, July 8, the case of Brian Deshaun McDowell's death was submitted for a file review by Little Rock Police Department Detectives. After a thorough review of the evidence and circumstances surrounding the shooting, the Prosecuting Attorney's office officially ruled the homicide as justified. As a result of this determination, no arrests were made in the case.
