On November 23, 2024, at approximately 2:25 a.m., Portsmouth Police responded to a reported shooting in the 300 block of Hamilton Avenue. Upon arrival, officers discovered 80-year-old George Tetterton Bowen Jr. suffering from fatal gunshot wounds. He was pronounced dead at the scene.
