On December 9, 2024, at approximately 3:30 p.m., Kansas City police responded to reports of gunshots in the 6000 block of Blue Hills Road. Upon arrival, officers discovered two individuals in a parking lot: 19-year-old Deontae Marchbanks and 17-year-old Cierra "CeeCee" Marshelle Pennington. Both victims had sustained gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced Marchbanks deceased at the scene, while Pennington was transported to a local hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.
