On the night of May 3, 2015, Josette Beeks, a 46-year-old Black female, was fatally shot in Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred near Ninth Street and Indiana Avenue, where Beeks was sitting on a porch with a group of people. According to her daughter, Beeks had recently moved back to Kansas City from Omaha and was talking with people she had recently met.
