On January 7, 2023, 18-year-old Trinity Lavon Paige Vogel was fatally shot outside the Stoney Creek Hotel in Independence, Missouri. The incident occurred around 11 a.m. when hotel guests observed a group near their vehicle and confronted them, leading to a physical altercation. During the confrontation, one of the guests discharged a firearm, striking Vogel. She was transported to a local hospital, where she succumbed to her injuries.
