In the early hours of December 11, 2017, the body of 23-year-old Alexxandra Morris was discovered near the road at East 70th Street and Kensington Avenue in Kansas City, Missouri. A female enrolled in the Chickasaw Nation, she had sustained multiple gunshot wounds. The last time her family had seen her was on Thanksgiving Day, a little over two weeks prior, during a holiday gathering at her brother's home.
The investigation into her death has yielded few public details.
A week after her body was found, police had not yet solved the homicide but reported they were receiving leads. Her mother expressed a belief that her daughter had been killed at a different location before being left near Swope Park. Despite the ongoing investigation and a monetary reward for information, no arrests have been made and no suspects have been publicly identified in connection with her murder.
Alexxandra, who was also known by the nicknames Alexx, Lexi, or Sonny, was a graduate of Lee's Summit North High School. She had a variety of interests and jobs, including working as a piercing and hair model and most recently at the Kansas City Chiefs Pro Shop. Her family remembers her as a vibrant young woman who enjoyed the outdoors, music, and spending time with her loved ones. The case remains an unsolved homicide.
