In the winter of 2018, a knock on the door of her Kansas City, Missouri home forever altered the lives of LaShonda Myers' family. On the evening of January 24th, the 31-year-old Black woman was at home with her 10-year-old son when he answered the door to an unknown man. The visitor asked to speak with someone, and when LaShonda came to the door, she was fatally shot in the entryway of her residence on Monroe Avenue.
