In the quiet, early moments of a summer morning in Leesville, South Carolina, tragedy struck, forever altering the lives of a local family. On July 7, 2023, William Mark Bedenbaugh, a 56-year-old White male, was fatally shot shortly after midnight in the 1400 block of Samaria Highway. Emergency medical services arrived to find Bedenbaugh on the ground near the roadway and attempted life-saving measures, but he was pronounced dead at the scene.
