In the quiet, early morning hours of August 21, 2025, the calm on Ash Street in Batesburg-Leesville, South Carolina, was shattered by the sound of gunfire. Just after 12:30 a.m., officers from the Batesburg-Leesville Police Department were dispatched to the scene following reports of the shots. Upon their arrival, they discovered a man lying near the road with multiple gunshot wounds. The victim was identified as 37-year-old Scottrell Juarez West, a male resident of nearby Monetta.
