Aviva Ruth Okeson-Haberman, a 24-year-old reporter for KCUR, tragically died on April 23, 2021, in Kansas City, Missouri. She was found in her first-floor apartment in the Santa Fe neighborhood, having suffered a fatal gunshot wound. The bullet that killed her appeared to have pierced one of her apartment windows, suggesting she was struck by a stray bullet. Okeson-Haberman was discovered by a colleague who went to check on her after she failed to respond to messages throughout the day.
