In the early evening of a Tuesday in Kansas City, Missouri, tragedy befell a 67-year-old woman in what police believe was a case of mistaken identity. Loretta Neal, a beloved figure in her community, was outside a residence in the Knoches Park neighborhood on September 20, 2022, when the sound of gunfire shattered the peace.
Emergency services were summoned to the 3500 block of Cyprus Avenue shortly after 6:15 p.m. following multiple reports of gunshots.
Upon their arrival, they discovered Loretta Neal suffering from gunshot wounds. She was immediately transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries.
