On the evening of May 25, 2016, Nikita Boston, a 36-year-old Black female, was found shot to death in her vehicle just after arriving at her home in the 1100 block of East 66th Street in Kansas City, Missouri. Boston, a mother of two preteen boys, had spent the earlier part of the evening with her sisters, making plans for her upcoming birthday. She was in a good mood when she left her sister's house around 10:45 p.m.
Shortly after 11 p.m., police were dispatched to her residence after
reports of gunshots. Upon arrival, they discovered Boston deceased in her vehicle, which was still running with its lights on in the driveway. Her family expressed profound shock and confusion, stating they had no idea who would have wanted to harm her. Her death marked the city's 38th homicide of 2016.
Boston was born and raised in Kansas City and attended Southeast High School. She was employed as a client relations specialist, where she was remembered for her lively and charming personality. Her family also noted that she was an excellent cook who specialized in baking.
The Kansas City Missouri Police Department continues to investigate the death of Nikita Boston as an unsolved homicide. No arrests have been made, and no suspects have been publicly identified in the case. Authorities urge anyone with information regarding the shooting to contact the TIPS Hotline.
