On the evening of August 4, 2022, violence erupted in the streets of Kansas City, Missouri, claiming the life of Mausheya Jackson. The 28-year-old female, a dedicated mother of three and a Kansas City native who had worked as a certified nursing assistant and phlebotomist, was the victim of a double shooting that occurred near the intersection of 50th and Olive Streets.
At approximately that time, officers were dispatched to the area following reports of gunfire and discovered a stationary vehicle containing two victims who had sustained gunshot wounds.
Upon arrival, first responders found Jackson and another woman inside the car, both suffering from injuries inflicted during the attack. While the second victim survived the assault, Jackson was transported to a local hospital where she later succumbed to her injuries. Investigators determined that the shooting took place in broad daylight, yet initial leads proved difficult to solidify. Police noted that the victims appeared to be innocent parties who were not engaged in any wrongdoing at the time of the ambush.
In the months following the homicide, detectives from the Kansas City Police Department worked to track down those responsible, canvassing the neighborhood and interviewing potential witnesses. Despite their efforts, authorities announced in May 2023 that they had exhausted the majority of their leads and the case remained unsolved.
