African American Layla Amore Freeman, a 21-year-old resident of Kansas City, Missouri, was tragically killed on the very day she was celebrating her milestone birthday. On the evening of May 13, 2025, police officers were dispatched to the Valentine neighborhood in Midtown following desperate reports from residents.
