On the evening of May 13, 2025, Layla Freeman, a 21-year-old African American woman, was tragically shot and killed in the Midtown area of Kansas City, Missouri. The incident occurred around 9:30 p.m. near the intersection of 39th Street and Main Street. Upon arrival, Kansas City police officers found Layla Freeman suffering from gunshot wounds. Emergency medical personnel pronounced her dead at the scene.
