On June 17, 2024, at approximately 12:48 a.m., Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting near the 3200 block of East Linwood Boulevard. Upon arrival, officers found 29-year-old Taylor Thomas lying in a yard with a gunshot wound to the back of her head. She was transported to a local hospital with life-threatening injuries and succumbed to her wounds on June 19, just days after her birthday.
