On Sunday, March 31, 2019, the life of Ashley Ledesma, a 28-year-old White female resident of Kansas City, Missouri, came to a sudden and violent end. Police officers were dispatched to a residence in the 6000 block of Park Avenue around 12:30 a.m. following reports of a shooting at the location. upon their arrival, first responders entered the home and discovered Ashley inside, unresponsive and showing no signs of life.
Despite the arrival of emergency personnel, she was pronounced dead shortly thereafter at the scene, marking the city's thirty-fifth homicide of the year.
The immediate aftermath of the shooting saw law enforcement engage in a pursuit to apprehend those believed to be responsible. Authorities identified a vehicle associated with the incident, leading to a high-speed chase through the area as officers attempted to stop the fleeing individuals. The pursuit concluded with three 'persons of interest' being taken into custody, though specific details regarding their identities and the formal charges filed against them were not immediately released to the public in the initial reports.
Born in September 1990, Ashley was a mother to six children and was remembered by her family for her love of the outdoors, particularly swimming and spending time at the lake. She was survived by her parents, William D. Kabel Jr. and Vonda R. Yates, as well as her siblings and extended family.
