On April 29, 2024, at approximately 8:30 a.m., Kansas City police responded to reports of a shooting near the intersection of 11th and Washington Streets in the Quality Hill neighborhood. Upon arrival, officers discovered 32-year-old Shamra Whitney unresponsive in the street near a vehicle, suffering from a gunshot wound. Emergency medical services were called to the scene, but Whitney was pronounced dead upon their arrival.
