Brooklyn Lindsey, a 32-year-old Black transgender woman, was found dead on June 25, 2019, on the porch of an abandoned house in Kansas City, Missouri. Her death was ruled a homicide after neighbors reported hearing arguing and possibly gunshots around 2:30 AM. Lindsey's body was discovered with multiple gunshot wounds, and shell casings were found near the scene. The tragic incident highlighted the ongoing violence faced by transgender individuals, particularly Black transgender women.
