On the morning of June 25, 2019, tragedy struck in Kansas City, Missouri, when the body of Brooklyn Lindsey was discovered on the front steps of an abandoned residence. Found at approximately 6:30 a.m. in the 600 block of Spruce Avenue within the city’s Northeast neighborhood, the 32-year-old Black transgender woman had suffered fatal injuries that were immediately evident to the responding officers.
