On January 10, 2023, in Austin, Texas, 20-year-old Eric House was fatally shot in a residence located in the 2000 block of Willow Creek Drive in the Riverside area. Emergency responders found House unresponsive with a gunshot wound; he was transported to a hospital, where he later succumbed to his injuries.
The Austin Police Department's investigation revealed that the shooter was 21-year-old Aiden Guillory, an acquaintance of House.
Guillory was reportedly handling a firearm recklessly inside the home when it discharged, striking House. Guillory remained at the scene and cooperated with law enforcement officials during their investigation.
Following the incident, Guillory was arrested by the Austin Police Department. The case was classified as Austin's fourth homicide of 2023. Authorities have encouraged anyone with additional information to contact the Austin Police Department or submit tips anonymously through the Capital Area Crime Stoppers Program.
In the wake of this tragic event, family and friends mourned the loss of Eric House. An obituary noted that he is survived by his mother, Ashley Seal, his brother, Justin House, and other relatives. A visitation and prayer service were held on January 27, 2023, at Mission Funeral Home - Serenity Chapel in Austin.
A GoFundMe campaign was also established by his aunt, Ginger Ross, to assist with funeral expenses, indicating the family's need for support during this difficult time.
